How to prep your hair before colouring

I know, we're all desperate to be back in that salon chair - thankfully it's not too long away now! If your hair is soon to undergo a colouring treatment, here are our top-tips for prepping your hair to minimise damage.

1. Conditioning treatments

Lots of us have been using hair masks and other conditioning treatments throughout lockdown to keep our hair healthy. If you haven't been, but are due to get your hair coloured soon when salons reopen, now's the time to work in a conditioning treatment to minimise any damage and keep those locks looking healthy.

2. Avoid too much heat

Heat is another cause of hair breakage. Try to minimise how much heat you apply to your hair in the weeks leading up to your appointment. This will help to keep your hair healthy and give you that fresh hair feeling when you leave the salon!

3. Avoid over-washing

Aim to wash your hair between 2-3 times a week. Anything more than this lead to dry, damaged hair which is never safe to colour.
